How It All Started

Woolston Rovers Under 7's, then under 6's, was started in 2005 after The Major (Jason Flinders) got Yvonne Gormen drunk at a party, so she didn't know she had agreed to run the under 6's until she was told a week later.

In the july of 2005 training started and Steve Banfield joined yvonne to help with the runining of the ever expanding team Noel Conreen helped out and Mark Stubbings was asked would he help out,for one night, and that was the start of the coaching staff.

In March 2006 Yvonne, Steve & Mark were told by The Major (Jason) that they were to carry out their F.A. Coaching Certificates, failure to do so would result in being blindfolded and put in front of a firing squad.

The team grew to about 45 children so it was decided to recruit another coach, Neil Peers became involved. Still the team grew so it was decided to split the children into Under 7's and Under 6's. The Under 6's went to train with 2 new coaches while the Under 7's were split into an A & B team. Yvonne, Steve & Mark to run the A team and Noel & Neil to run the B team with around 11 players in each team.

Today, Mark works hard Managing and Coaching the A team with the help of ste, unfortunately, Yvonne had other comittments and left the club in mid season 2006 but she still likes to come and watch when she can.
